More about Nuremberg
School and kindergarten
The Bavarian school system applicable to Nuremberg begins with elementary school (grades 1-4). Assignment is automatically made by the city of Nuremberg based on the respective district of residence. The child then attends a secondary school: either an Oberschule (basic vocational qualification (= Hauptschulabschluss) after the 9th grade, an advanced vocational qualification and intermediate school leaving certificate (MSA) after the 10th grade, and a Abitur (university entrance qualification) after the 13th grade) or a Gymnasium (university entrance qualification) after the 12th grade.
In the neighboring city of Erlangen, just 17 km away, is the Franconian International School (FIS), and there are also other private German educational institutions.
Kindergarten – Since November 2019, registration at both private and public daycare centers has only been permitted via the City of Nuremberg's daycare portal. Places are allocated through the online system. There are church-run, municipal, private, and bilingual daycare centers in the Nuremberg metropolitan region.

Find an apartment in Nuremberg
Nuremberg cannot expand. Rivers and forests prevent the city from expanding. This has consequences for the real estate market. Far too few apartments are being completed, even though the city's half a million residents and newcomers urgently need more living space. Properties in the sought-after locations of the Old Town and the North City always have higher demand than supply. If you don't speak German, the challenge is especially great.
With our expertise, it's still possible! With a little patience, flexibility, and careful planning, we always find a suitable apartment for our clients!
Nuremberg consists of several districts with varying price ranges. Currently, landlords consider a third of their income to be the maximum rent limit. A positive SCHUFA entry and a positive certificate of rent arrears are essential for approval.
